Calligrapher: Abd-us-Salaam Khan
The calligraphy in this book was written by Abd-us-Salaam Khan. Mr Khan had met with a tragic accident in his early career in which he lost both his right hand and his calligraphy skills. His enthusiasm for calligraphy enabled him to regain with his left hand all that he had lost and to further excel in his field.
Abd-us-Salaam Khan apprenticed under the renowned calligraphers Munshi Mohammad Mustafa Badayuni and Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf Sadeeqi and established his reputation as a calligrapher in all major Arabic scripts. He was the chief calligrapher at a reputed Saudi Arabian company and worked for a prestigious newspaper company.
This amazing calligrapher was persuaded to join this effort to teach students Islam’s foremost art of calligraphy in three Arabic scripts : Urdu/ Persian, Riq’a and Naskh.
The content is grouped into the following three parts:
- Instructions on what specialized tools the students will need and how to use them
- Introduction to the alphabet and the strokes used to write it in the selected Arabic script
- How to combine these letters in a running script
